Egypt and Indonesia seal bilateral relations that aims to establish a logistics zone in Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in collaboration with government and private sector companies from both countries.
The joint press conference between Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto expressed a strong commitment to enhancing their bilateral relations across various domains, including politics, economics, trade, military, and culture, elevating the partnership to a strategic level.
Mutual interest
President Sisi highlighted that Egypt was the first country to recognize Indonesia’s independence, emphasizing the deep-rooted history and mutual respect between the two nations. They agreed to place the high-level joint committee under the direct supervision of their leadership to ensure effective coordination and progress in areas of mutual interest.
President Sisi underscored the importance of cultural and educational ties, noting the presence of approximately 15,000 Indonesian students at Al-Azhar University and Egypt’s willingness to accommodate more.
Both leaders stressed the need for peace in the region, with President Subianto praising Egypt’s strategic role and humanitarian efforts, particularly in aiding the Gaza Strip. The two countries agreed to strengthen ties in defense, economy, and education, as well as foster cultural exchange and mutual expertise sharing.
President Subianto expressed gratitude for Egypt’s hospitality and emphasized the shared vision of resolving conflicts and building a peaceful region. This meeting symbolizes a deepened collaboration and a forward-looking partnership between Egypt and Indonesia.
