Ethiopian Airlines has signed a purchase agreement with De Havilland Canada for two Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft, marking a strategic step in strengthening its domestic and regional services.

The latest generation of the renowned DHC-6 series, the 300-G aircraft are known for their versatility, reliability, and ability to operate on short or unpaved runways—making them ideal for reaching remote areas.

Tourism boost

Commenting on the development, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said, “We are pleased to bring back the enhanced version of the De Havilland Canada Twin Otter DHC-6-300G aircraft into our fleet. These versatile aircraft are designed to support tourism and offer a wide array of services, including air ambulance, airport calibration, and charter operations.”

The addition of the Twin Otter 300-G aircraft marks a new chapter for the airline’s fleet and supports its goal of enhancing connectivity across Ethiopia and East Africa. Ethiopian Airlines currently serves 22 domestic destinations using Dash 8-400 double cabin aircraft and is investing in aviation infrastructure across the country to support future growth.
