Egyptian startup Wuilt, which specializes in e-commerce enablement, has closed a US $2 million funding round to support the expansion of its free website-building service across the MENA region.
Wuilt offers an intuitive platform that allows users to quickly set up professional websites and online stores without coding knowledge. The company’s aim is to simplify digital onboarding for entrepreneurs and small businesses, lowering barriers to entering the online market.
Benefits
The new funding round, which follows a US $535,000 seed investment in 2020, attracted continued backing from Flat6Labs and MTF VC, along with contributions from Hub71, JIMCO, Purity Tech, and several private investors.
In April 2025, Wuilt took a bold step by removing all subscription fees for its platform in Egypt, a decision that meant forgoing significant recurring revenue in favor of rapid user growth. This strategy has already resulted in over 20,000 new merchants joining within a few months.
With this capital injection, the company plans to roll out its free service to the UAE by late 2025 and extend its reach to other GCC markets and Turkey in early 2026. Additionally, Wuilt is developing AI-driven features to help merchants streamline operations, boost sales, and scale efficiently. According to Rostom, the move was about breaking down traditional barriers to e-commerce in the region: “We didn’t pivot just to grow, we pivoted to make growth possible for everyone else.”
