Morocco’s aviation and logistics sector reached a historic milestone in 2025, reflecting strong momentum across passenger traffic and airport capacity.
With 36.3 million passengers, up from 32.7 million in 2024, the Kingdom is solidifying its role in transport in Africa and logistics in North Africa, driven by the Airport 2030 strategy and the surge of visitors during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Office National Des Aéroports (ONDA), which leads the Airport 2030 roadmap, confirmed that this nearly 11% increase in national traffic marks a structural turning point for air transport in Africa.
The growth is fueled by rising tourism, enhanced international connectivity, and AFCON’s massive influx of fans, positioning Morocco as a strategic platform for African trade, connecting Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Airport 2030 emphasizes infrastructure adaptation, passenger experience improvement, and stronger air connectivity, supporting not only passenger travel but also air cargo and regional trade flows, contributing to a more efficient African supply chain.
Key hubs achieved historic milestones in 2025:
- Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport surpassed 11 million passengers, consolidating its role as a national and continental hub.
- Marrakech exceeded 10 million passengers, reinforcing its tourism and trade significance.
- Rabat-Salé Airport recorded a 26% increase, crossing 2 million passengers and underlining its growing institutional and business relevance.
Morocco’s five main airports account for nearly 90% of national traffic, with Casablanca alone representing 32%, Marrakech 28%, and Agadir 10%, while Tangier and Rabat saw growth of 17% and 26%, respectively.
Growth at regional airports like Essaouira, Béni Mellal, Errachidia, and Laâyoune further reflects a gradual national network rebalancing, supporting logistics and tourism development across the country.
Coordinated governance between ONDA, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Customs, and other institutional partners has reinforced efficiency and security across Morocco’s air supply chain, fostering innovation in transport and logistics in Africa.
