Africa is experiencing a rapid digital evolution, but its supporting infrastructure especially data centres—remains significantly underdeveloped. While internet access and demand for cloud-based services continue to rise, the continent still represents less than 1% of global data centre capacity. This shortfall poses major challenges for governments, businesses, and communities that increasingly depend on digital tools for innovation, economic growth, and seamless connectivity.
To address this critical gap, TechAfrica News has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Africa Data Centres Association (ADCA), a prominent trade body representing leading data centre operators across the continent. This partnership is aimed at boosting awareness, education, and advocacy around the vital role of data centres in driving Africa’s digital transformation.
By combining TechAfrica News’ strengths in content creation, media outreach, and industry storytelling with ADCA’s deep expertise in the data infrastructure space, the collaboration will spotlight the importance of data centres in Africa’s digital journey. The MOU sets the stage for joint initiatives including thought-provoking articles, trend reports, and expert insights that will explore the evolution of the continent’s digital ecosystem.
Pillar of partnership
Both organizations will jointly host webinars, workshops, and industry events to help stakeholders better understand the value of modern data infrastructure. These platforms will also serve to connect leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs across the continent, fostering meaningful discussions and collaborations. Additionally, ADCA members will gain exclusive visibility through TechAfrica News’ media channels, enhancing their reach and influence.
Through joint advocacy efforts, the partnership also aims to engage with decision-makers and the public to promote strategic investments in data centres. By shaping conversations around digital infrastructure and championing African-led solutions, TechAfrica News and ADCA are taking a vital step toward building a resilient, inclusive digital future for the continent.
“This collaboration is about more than just infrastructure—it’s about telling Africa’s digital story from the inside out,” said Akim Benamara, Founder and CEO of TechAfrica News. “Working with ADCA allows us to elevate voices from across the continent and inspire real progress.”
Paul Francois-Cattier, Managing Director of ADCA, echoed the sentiment: “Partnering with TechAfrica News helps us drive forward our mission of empowering Africa’s digital future. Together, we can amplify the visibility of our members and highlight the critical role data centres play in enabling progress.”
This MOU marks a significant milestone in advancing Africa’s digital capabilities and represents a united vision for a digitally empowered continent, built on strong, scalable infrastructure.
