AKOM Trading Company Limited, a leading Vietnamese exporter with a robust footprint across African markets, has formalized a cooperation agreement with LP International Logistics & Trading Company Limited, a key player in logistics and shipping services based in Hà Nội.
The newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to provide dependable and efficient import pathways for a wide array of Vietnamese goods into Senegal, with a strong focus on agricultural products. This aligns with Senegal’s broader objective of achieving food security and reducing reliance on external sources for staple commodities.
Sustainable supply framework
The agreement is especially timely given current global trade challenges influenced by major geopolitical conflicts such as the US–China trade tensions and the ongoing Russia–Ukraine crisis. These disruptions have prompted emerging economies like Senegal to diversify sourcing channels and forge reliable international partnerships.
Through this collaboration, AKOM intends to expand its distribution network in West Africa by working closely with local importers and government bodies. With the support of Senegal’s Trade and Commerce Division, the company plans to develop sustainable supply frameworks for products like rice, fertilizers, and other agricultural essentials.
“Senegal holds considerable promise for deepening trade cooperation, especially in the agricultural sector. Its growing demand for basic commodities makes it an ideal partner for Vietnam. By leveraging our export expertise, we aim to support Senegal’s development goals while also opening new growth avenues for Vietnamese products,” said Ashish Kumar Bhatia, Director of AKOM.
In a related development, Mr. Bhatia was recently honored by the Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai during his business trip to India. Recognizing AKOM’s active role in strengthening Vietnam’s economic engagement with Africa, Mr. Bhatia received a symbolic gold lapel pin featuring the national flags of Vietnam and India. AKOM continues to be a key force in Vietnam’s export sector, particularly noted for its leadership in rice exports and its commitment to building resilient trade partnerships in developing markets.
