CargoTech has rolled out advanced digital solutions aimed at helping airlines better manage cargo space. The aviation industry is currently grappling with a shortage of cargo capacity, worsened by delays in the arrival of new freighter aircraft and increased maintenance demands on older fleets.

To overcome these challenges, CargoTech encourages airlines to explore strategic alliances and interline agreements. These may involve block space agreements (BSAs) with partner carriers, especially on routes that are not operating at full capacity.

CargoTech’s suite of services enables carriers to efficiently evaluate and secure capacity, enhance interline collaboration, and optimise cargo loads in real-time. However, as CargoTech President Cedric Millet noted, implementing such partnerships can be operationally complex. Multiple stakeholders such as ground handlers and airlines often use different systems, requiring seamless software integration.

Long-term planning

The company’s Rotate division assists airlines with long-term planning, offering tools to evaluate fleet configurations and potential alliances. Its Fleet and Network solution enables scenario-based analysis, while Rotate Live Capacity helps identify suitable interline partners based on real-time availability.

Rotate also supports carriers in leasing aircraft and assessing ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) rates to maintain profitable operations. Additionally, it can identify network synergies that help increase cargo loads on existing routes.

Meanwhile, the CargoAi division has introduced an interline feature within its CargoMartPro platform, allowing carriers to book across multiple airlines easily. This tool improves the booking process, enables live data transfers, and keeps users informed about current rates and space availability.

Wiremind’s CARGOSTACK complements these tools by managing available cargo space, setting partnership terms, and tracking rate structures. It also provides real-time alerts on capacity issues or market opportunities, enabling airlines to adapt swiftly to changes in demand.

Michael Teoh, Head of Strategy at CargoTech, highlighted the company’s mission to combine technological infrastructure with domain expertise. The goal is to help partner airlines become more agile, responsive, and financially sustainable despite today’s capacity constraints.

In a notable development earlier this year, Cargojet became the launch partner for Aerios’ new Carrier App, having played a key role during the alpha testing phase. Aerios is one of several companies under the CargoTech umbrella, which also includes ECS Group’s Cargo Digital Factory, Wiremind Cargo, CargoAi, and Rotate.
