CEVA Logistics has launched a low-emission Less Than Container Load (LCL) ocean freight service between France and Ivory Coast. The move aims to bolster sustainable logistics.

This new route, suitable for all cargo types, is part of CEVA’s CEVA FORPLANET program—a comprehensive initiative aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of logistics through alternative fuels, modal shifts, and circular economy strategies.

Reducing carbon emissions

The service offers consistent weekly departures with an estimated transit time of 24 days from Rouen to Abidjan. The weekly service links Rouen, Marseille, Lyon, and Abidjan, and is powered by marine biofuels, which cut carbon emissions by 84% compared to conventional ocean transport.

According to Paul Bernard, CEVA’s Managing Director for West Africa and Overseas Territories, the service represents a step forward in supporting greener supply chain options in West Africa, a vital hub for global trade.

Since the launch of the CEVA FORPLANET initiative in November 2024, the company has successfully avoided over 26,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions by incorporating more than 10 million litres of sustainable marine and aviation fuels into its operations.

Based in Marseille, France, CEVA Logistics operates in over 170 countries, employing around 110,000 people across more than 1,500 locations worldwide. The company is a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, a major player in global shipping and logistics.
