Construction works on the Bata International Airport Passenger Terminal in Equatorial Guinea has been completed. Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, government officials, and community representatives celebrated the completion and praised the new terminal as a significant achievement, calling it a “gift” for the country’s 56th Independence Day. He also commended SsangYong E’C, the project developers for its quality and reliability.

Located in Bata, Equatorial Guinea’s second-largest city, the new terminal strengthens the city’s position as a regional hub. The structure, which spans one basement and three additional floors, is capable of handling up to two million passengers per year. The project includes support facilities such as annex buildings, parking, access roads, advanced baggage handling, and boarding bridges. Awarded through a “Design-Build” and “Fast Track” approach, SsangYong E’C managed the terminal from design to construction, with Heerim Architects leading the design and French firm CIEC supervising.

This achievement follows SsangYong E’C’s earlier success with Mongomeyen International Airport in 2018, making it the builder of two out of Equatorial Guinea’s three international airports. Since entering the market in 2011, SsangYong E’C has completed multiple high-profile projects in Equatorial Guinea, including VIP residences, hospitals, schools, and water infrastructure, contributing to Korea’s growing presence in Africa. A spokesperson for SsangYong E’C highlighted plans to enter new markets, including Central and South America, while reinforcing its global leadership in construction.
