Côte d’Ivoire’s national postal service, La Poste, has partnered with Chinese digital logistics firm Caftrade to launch a forward-thinking green mobility project called GO’POST. Unveiled at a ceremony led by Digital Transition and Digitalization Minister Kalil Ibrahim Konaté, the initiative is designed to modernize transport and delivery services in an environmentally sustainable way.

GO’POST introduces a combination of electric ride-hailing, eco-conscious delivery solutions, and mobile payment systems to improve both service efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The project’s pilot phase will begin with the deployment of 100 electric cars and 200 electric motorcycles, laying the groundwork for a future nationwide expansion. With a focus on clean energy and smart urban mobility, this initiative reflects Côte d’Ivoire’s broader commitment to using digital tools as a catalyst for economic modernization and environmental responsibility. Minister Konaté emphasized that this effort supports the government’s goal of strengthening public services while empowering youth and entrepreneurs through digital inclusion.

GO’POST operates around three central pillars: electric passenger transport, green delivery services for consumers and businesses, and an interoperable digital payment solution. These elements are designed to integrate seamlessly, creating a unified platform that supports both mobility and digital finance. This approach is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ease urban congestion, and improve access to essential services.

The timing of GO’POST aligns with a wider shift happening across Africa, where electric vehicle adoption is on the rise. A recent study by Mordor Intelligence estimates the African EV market at $15.8 billion in 2024, with projections reaching $25.4 billion by 2029, driven by a growing demand for clean, connected transport systems. Côte d’Ivoire’s initiative not only contributes to this trend but also positions the country as a leader in integrating green technology with public infrastructure.

Beyond environmental benefits, the initiative aims to create opportunities in digital entrepreneurship, generate green jobs, and promote financial inclusion through accessible payment technologies. GO’POST represents a powerful example of how public-private partnerships can drive innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth in emerging economies. It is a strategic step toward building a modern, resilient ecosystem for transportation and digital services in Côte d’Ivoire.
