Egypt and France are strengthening their collaboration to advance key transportation and industrial projects, including the Cairo Metro Line 6 and the Alstom Industrial Complex.

Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Industry and Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir recently met with French Ambassador Eric Chevalier to discuss strategies for expediting these initiatives. Al-Wazir emphasized Egypt’s commitment to completing the projects efficiently, while France reaffirmed its support.

Cairo Metro Line 6

The development of Cairo Metro Line 6 has made notable progress, with the route finalized and French firms Egis and Setec working on technical specifications. Alstom is also preparing to submit its technical and financial proposals for review. Meanwhile, construction is advancing at the Alstom Industrial Complex in Borg El Arab, which is expected to play a crucial role in Egypt’s industrial expansion.

The Cairo Metro Line 6 is poised to transform public transportation in Cairo by easing congestion and improving urban mobility. The National Authority for Tunnels is meticulously reviewing technical documents before granting final approvals. In addition to improving transportation, the Alstom Industrial Complex will contribute significantly to Egypt’s manufacturing sector.

The facility will produce essential railway components such as control panels and electrical systems, while also assembling metro trains, trams, and high-speed rail vehicles. This project will not only strengthen Egypt’s domestic railway industry but also enhance its export potential to markets across the Middle East and Africa.

To ensure the timely completion of these projects, Egypt and France are focusing on accelerating technical evaluations and finalizing financial agreements. Trial operations for the East Nile Monorail have already commenced, while progress continues on the West Nile Monorail. Discussions are also underway regarding Alstom’s potential role in managing and operating the monorail system. By intensifying technical cooperation and streamlining project implementation, both nations aim to enhance Egypt’s transport infrastructure, boost industrial capabilities, and drive economic growth.
