Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened a high-level meeting on Sunday at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to evaluate a proposal by an Egyptian-French consortium comprising Hassan Allam Holding and Groupe ADP (Aéroports de Paris) for the management and operation of airports. This initiative aligns with Egypt’s privatization and airport development program aimed at modernizing infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency.
Prime Minister Madbouly stressed Egypt’s openness to collaborations with global experts in airport management. He highlighted the strategic intent to involve the private sector in modernizing airports, expressing optimism about Groupe ADP’s participation in the Egyptian airports program.
Consortium’s goals
Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hefny recognized Groupe ADP’s stature as a global leader in airport operations. He emphasized the ministry’s readiness to forge partnerships with Groupe ADP as part of its privatization plans, developed in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, articulated the consortium’s goals of increasing airport capacity, improving passenger and cargo movement efficiency, and advancing the government’s broader aviation objectives.
Xavier Hürstel, Vice President of Groupe ADP, highlighted the company’s extensive experience managing 26 airports across 18 countries, serving over 336.5 million passengers in 2023. He reiterated Groupe ADP’s commitment to modernizing Egyptian airports to meet international standards, enhance traveler experiences, and boost operational revenues.
The proposal represents a strategic step in Egypt’s broader efforts to involve private-sector expertise in infrastructure development. By leveraging the capabilities of established global operators like Groupe ADP, the government aims to enhance airport operations, attract more international traffic, and strengthen its position as a regional aviation hub.
