The Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation has secured the rights to host the 2027 Airports Council International World Annual General Assembly (ACI World WAGA). This globally prestigious event will be held in Sharm El Sheikh, a renowned resort destination known for its advanced facilities and strategic importance.
The hosting agreement was formalized through a ceremonial signing between Eng. Ayman Fawzy Arab, Chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, and the Secretary General of ACI Africa. The event was attended by Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World, along with several senior officials from both organizations, reflecting the significance of the partnership.
Aaviation strategy
This development aligns with Egypt’s broader civil aviation strategy, which seeks to position the country as a central hub for global aviation activities. Over the past several months, Egyptian aviation authorities engaged in detailed discussions and coordination with ACI World, ultimately resulting in the successful selection of Sharm El Sheikh as the 2027 host city.
The ACI World WAGA is regarded as the most important international gathering in the airport industry, attracting members from ACI’s regional bodies across continents. The event includes public forums, high-level discussions, and an international exhibition that showcases the latest trends and technologies shaping the future of aviation.
In his remarks, Eng. Arab emphasized that Egypt’s selection is a reflection of the country’s growing reputation as a leader in the aviation field. He highlighted that Sharm El Sheikh’s infrastructure, geographic location, and experience in organizing large-scale global conferences make it an ideal location for the assembly. Hosting WAGA 2027 is expected to boost Egypt’s visibility in the global aviation sector, encourage investment, promote knowledge exchange, and drive economic growth—particularly in tourism and related sectors. This initiative is fully aligned with Egypt’s national development goals and its commitment to sustainable progress.
