Emirates and Philippine Airlines are exploring the possibility of expanding their current cargo interline agreement to strengthen their airfreight operations. This potential collaboration was discussed during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, where both carriers expressed interest in working more closely to enhance their logistics capabilities.
The expanded partnership could involve the exchange of best practices in ground handling, catering, maintenance, and technical training, as well as organizing familiarization trips for media and trade partners to promote their services.
Passenger service alliance plans
In addition to boosting cargo cooperation, the two airlines are considering extending their passenger service alliance. Plans include a reciprocal code-sharing arrangement on flights between the Philippines and Dubai, as well as selected onward routes beyond each carrier’s primary hubs. This would allow for more seamless travel options and greater connectivity for passengers traveling between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
This initiative is part of Emirates SkyCargo’s wider strategy to strengthen its global presence through strategic alliances. The airline recently entered into agreements with AirAsia’s cargo unit, Teleport, to promote trade and e-commerce in the region, and with Astral Aviation to expand cargo connectivity into Africa. These partnerships reflect Emirates’ continued focus on growing its logistics network through collaboration.
