Emirates SkyCargo has expanded its freighter fleet with the arrival of two brand-new Boeing 777 freighters, part of a larger effort to enhance its cargo capacity and global service capabilities.
The newly delivered aircraft, registered as A6-EFX and A6-EFY, were transported from Boeing’s facility in Everett, Washington, through Hong Kong to Dubai World Central. These additions bring the airline’s total number of Boeing 777 freighters to 12.
777 freighters
The two jets are the first of 13 Boeing 777 freighters ordered by the airline, with 11 more scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026. Emirates confirmed that one older freighter has been retired as the airline continues to modernize its fleet. The next freighter expected to join is registered A6-EFZ.
In addition to its own fleet, Emirates SkyCargo operates six wet-leased Boeing 747 freighters sourced from multiple partners, including Compass Air Cargo, ACT Airlines, and Aerotranscargo. These aircraft are used under ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) arrangements.
The airline is also considering future freighter models, including the Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350F, as part of its long-term growth strategy. A decision on these next-generation aircraft is expected by the end of 2025. Furthermore, Emirates has started repainting its cargo aircraft in a new corporate livery, with the aircraft A6-EFV being the first to showcase the updated design. These developments underline Emirates SkyCargo’s continued investment in capacity expansion and operational flexibility to serve growing global logistics demands.
