Ethiopian Cargo, the freight division of Ethiopian Airlines, has officially added its 12th Boeing 777 Freighter to its fleet. Registered as ET-BAC (MSN 68141), this aircraft holds special significance as the last Boeing 777-200LRF ever produced by Boeing, marking the end of an era in wide-body freighter manufacturing.
Originally scheduled for departure from Everett (PAE), Washington, USA on May 23, 2025, the aircraft took off a day later on May 24 at 09:18 local time, and completed its delivery flight with a landing at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on May 25 at 10:21 local time, according to Flightradar24 tracking data.
Boost in global air logistics
Ethiopian Airlines emphasized the importance of the milestone, noting that the delivery strengthens its position in global air logistics and supports its mission to connect global markets with enhanced efficiency.
This latest addition complements the previous Boeing 777 Freighter (ET-BAB, MSN 68140) delivered in January 2025. With 12 Boeing 777Fs now in active service, Ethiopian Cargo has one of the most capable long-haul freighter fleets in Africa.
The carrier’s full cargo fleet currently includes: 12 Boeing 777 Freighters, 4 Boeing 737-800 Freighters, 5 Boeing 767-300 Freighters (2 active, 3 parked). In addition to its dedicated freighters, Ethiopian Cargo leverages the belly cargo space of Ethiopian Airlines’ passenger fleet, which consists of 141 aircraft, including Airbus A350s, Boeing 737s, 777s, 787 Dreamliners, and Dash 8-400 turboprops.
Ethiopian Cargo serves more than 69 dedicated cargo destinations and accesses over 130 international cities through its passenger network. Its services span a wide range of cargo categories including pharmaceuticals, perishables, electronics, live animals, e-commerce parcels, and high-value shipments.
With this historic aircraft joining its fleet, Ethiopian Cargo reaffirms its commitment to remaining a leader in global air freight and logistics, continuing to connect businesses, people, and markets around the world.
