Iveco South Africa celebrated a significant achievement with the handover of vehicles through its Courier Incubator initiative to partners The Courier Guy and InterTown Transport. This initiative is designed to empower young women and promote diversity in the logistics and courier sectors, areas traditionally dominated by men.
The Courier Incubator Initiative is a collaborative effort involving Iveco South Africa, the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA), and host employers such as The Courier Guy. It focuses on equipping young women from vulnerable communities with essential skills and opportunities to thrive in the logistics industry.
Training program
Participants receive a comprehensive 12-month training program that covers both technical and soft skills, such as personal finance, social media awareness, defensive driving, and logistics operations. During this time, participants gain hands-on experience within the industry, driving Iveco Daily vehicles and learning under the guidance of mentors.
Reflecting on the milestone, Delray Vosloo, Director of Iveco South Africa, emphasized the initiative’s broader goals: “This initiative is about more than just skills development—it’s about changing the face of the logistics industry by empowering women to take on roles that have traditionally been male-dominated. The recent handover represents a pivotal moment in our journey towards achieving this goal, and I am excited about the future we are building together.”
Henry Van Dyk, Head of Human Capital at The Courier Guy, also expressed pride in the program, stating, “Partnering with Iveco on the Courier Incubator has been a rewarding experience. We’ve seen first-hand how the program is not only equipping these young women with vital skills but also giving them the confidence to succeed in the industry. We are proud to be part of this journey and look forward to seeing the continued impact of this initiative.” This initiative exemplifies Iveco South Africa’s commitment to fostering gender equality and creating sustainable career pathways for women in the logistics and transport sectors.
