JAC Motors has expanded its local commercial vehicle line-up with the launch of the T6 2.0L CTi 1-tonne single-cab bakkie, aimed at transport operators, fleet owners and entrepreneurs operating in demanding environments. Priced from R299,900 (VAT inclusive), the new model combines rugged capability with fuel efficiency and competitive ownership costs.

Fuel efficiency and durability for fleet and business use

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, the T6 single-cab is designed to withstand the pressures of large-scale transport and fleet operations, while delivering dependable performance across urban routes, open roads, and challenging terrain.

“Our new T6 single-cab workhorse is a rugged, value-for-money all-rounder, combining comfort with a proven, fuel-efficient turbo-diesel engine. Its versatility suits urban, open-road and demanding fleet applications, meeting transport operators’ and entrepreneurs’ needs for durability, dependability, and low maintenance costs,” says Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa.

The powertrain features a direct-injection common-rail turbo-diesel engine with an intercooler and Electrical Variable Geometry Turbocharger (EVGT), producing 102 kW at 3,600 rpm and 320 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission ensures smooth power delivery, with maximum torque available across a wide powerband.

Fuel efficiency is a key selling point. The T6 records an average consumption of 6.9 L/100 km on the combined cycle, while its 76-litre fuel tank offers a driving range of more than 1,100 kilometres.

“The T6’s fuel consumption is exceptional, as its low torque curve enables earlier shifts and fewer gear changes,” says Göbel. “In local combined-cycle testing, we recorded consumption as low as 6.1L/100 km, and just 8.0L/100 km with a 750 kg load. Fuel efficiency is the top buying motivator for workhorse bakkies, and the new T6 delivers exactly what the transport industry needs.”

Designed for practical load handling, the T6 single-cab offers a 1,000 kg payload and a spacious load box measuring 2,260 mm × 1,520 mm × 470 mm, finished with an anti-scratch, corrosion-resistant sprayed bed liner. Standard equipment includes cargo tie-down hooks, external rope hooks, and a rear step bumper, while the Lux derivative adds a cab protector with additional tie-down functionality.

Rolling on 245/65 R17 tyres, the bakkie delivers improved stability, braking and load capacity when fully laden. Maximum braked towing capacity is rated at 1,400 kg, reinforcing its suitability for commercial operations.

“The new T6 single-cab offers buyers a reliable workhorse option with a proven engine and drivetrain, excellent gravel-road ability, a comfortable cab and a generously sized load box, enhancing versatility and practicality in demanding everyday working conditions,” Göbel adds.

Inside, the T6 offers a comfortable and functional cabin, featuring air-conditioning, power steering, electric windows, and a height-adjustable, leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel as standard.

JAC Motors dealers also provide a range of approved accessories, including canopies, cattle rails, and load management solutions, allowing customers to tailor the vehicle to specific operational needs.

With a network of more than 70 dealers across Southern Africa, including Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, JAC Motors South Africa continues to strengthen its after-sales support, ensuring consistent service standards across the region.
