Lufthansa Cargo is set to introduce a virtual reality (VR) training programme for its aircraft loading supervisors, aiming to enhance skill development, boost safety standards, and streamline training processes. The initiative marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing digital transformation and is scheduled to roll out its first module in October 2025.

Benefits

The immersive VR training will enable employees to simulate loading procedures, practice adherence to safety protocols, and refine communication techniques in a realistic, virtual environment without disrupting live operations. According to Lufthansa Cargo, the approach is designed to accelerate learning, improve task comprehension, and foster practical experience in a risk-free setting.

“With this project, we are not only strengthening the qualifications of our Aircraft Loading Supervisors but also our role as an innovation driver in the industry,” said Momo Ruzic, Station Manager Frankfurt at Lufthansa Cargo. “This technology allows us to train our employees in a practical manner while ensuring the highest safety and efficiency standards.”

The carrier also noted that the VR-based approach offers cost-effective and eco-friendly advantages over traditional methods by reducing the need for physical equipment and facilities. The programme forms part of Lufthansa Cargo’s broader push to integrate digital tools across its operations and maintain its position at the forefront of innovation in air freight logistics.
