Syngenta Crop Protection and Maersk have announced a five-year extension of their fourth-party logistics (4PL) partnership, emphasizing a shared commitment to sustainable logistics practices. The collaboration, which began eight years ago, focuses on supply chain optimization and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reflecting both companies’ dedication to decarbonization.

Objectives

Maersk aims to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2040, while Syngenta is accelerating its sustainability efforts through decarbonization and setting ambitious targets for sustainable operations. Under this partnership, both companies prioritize regular emissions reporting and ongoing sustainability discussions as part of their performance metrics. The partnership leverages digital logistics and AI, and has successfully navigated significant challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Red Sea crisis, by building a resilient supply chain.

Syngenta’s Global Head of Production & Supply, Mike Hollands, highlighted the alignment between Syngenta and Maersk in prioritizing sustainability and innovation, underscoring the partnership’s proven value. Similarly, Dimitris Armenakis, Global Head of Managed by Maersk, noted Maersk’s role in optimizing and simplifying customer supply chains while continuously developing solutions that enhance their resilience and efficiency. The partnership reflects both companies’ dedication to a greener, more innovative supply chain model for the future.
