The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) has entered into a N$121 million agreement with Intelsat Ventures to provide Direct-To-Home (DTH) transmission services for the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). The move is a significant step toward achieving full television and radio coverage across the country.

National broadcasting services

At present, NBC’s television broadcasts reach 74.5% of Namibia, while radio services cover around 78%. The DTH project is expected to close these coverage gaps within six to seven months, ensuring that all citizens regardless of location have access to national broadcasting services.

This development supports the government’s ongoing efforts to promote digital inclusion and equal access to information. It also demonstrates CPBN’s commitment to delivering impactful public services through transparent and effective procurement practices. By extending broadcast reach to 100%, the initiative is set to enhance connectivity, public awareness, and national unity.
