Porter Airlines and Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) have expanded their pilot training program by deploying a new Embraer E195-E2 full-flight simulator (FFS) at CAE’s Montreal training centre. ECTS, a joint venture between Embraer and CAE, began training Porter pilots on the simulator in May 2025.

The advanced 7000XR Series FFS was developed and built by CAE in Montreal and features the CAE Prodigy visual system, powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. This cutting-edge simulator delivers photorealistic imagery and dynamic models, offering a highly immersive training experience.

Enhancing aviation safety

The deployment marks a strategic milestone in supporting Porter’s rapidly growing E2 fleet, with 46 aircraft delivered and up to 100 expected. The simulator’s location in Montreal enables pilots to train closer to home while increasing training capacity and creating skilled aviation jobs in Canada.

Porter’s E2 pilots will receive comprehensive initial and recurrent training at the facility. Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE’s Division President for Commercial Aviation, welcomed Porter to CAE’s Montreal centre, emphasizing the role of the Embraer-CAE partnership in enhancing aviation safety and global training standards.

Besides Montreal, ECTS operates E195-E2 simulators in Singapore and Madrid, and offers Phenom jet training using FFS at CAE centres in Dallas, Las Vegas, Burgess Hill (UK), São Paulo, and soon, Vienna. This global simulator network reinforces ECTS’s commitment to delivering world-class pilot training across commercial and business aviation sectors.
