At the USAWA Awards, organized by the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), Safaricom’s Board of Directors was commended for fostering inclusive leadership. The company’s 2024 board features five women, a move that reflects its strong commitment to gender equality at the highest decision-making level.

In financial technology, Tunza Simu a device insurance solution developed by Safaricom’s M-PESA Financial Services Insurance Squad won 2025 InsurTech of the Year at the African Insurance Awards. Tunza Simu allows users to easily insure their mobile devices via M-PESA, offering a practical and accessible solution that meets everyday customer needs.
In the digital retail space, Masoko, Safaricom’s e-commerce platform, emerged as the Gold Winner in the Best Mobile Devices and Accessories E-Commerce Store category during the 7th Kenya E-Commerce Awards. The award recognized Masoko for providing a reliable and user-friendly platform tailored to Kenya’s mobile-driven consumer market.
