Schneider Electric has expanded its presence in Tanzania by establishing a dedicated team, an office in Dar-es-Salaam, and a cutting-edge fabrication yard designed for assembling containerized substation solutions. This strategic expansion aims to support the region’s growing infrastructure and energy demands.

As part of its operations, Schneider Electric will collaborate with regional partners to develop containerized substations, also known as box-type substations. These prefabricated units integrate essential components such as the PRISMA low-voltage distribution switchboard, solar chargers, and inverters into standardized containers. This innovative approach makes them ideal for serving diverse industries across Tanzania and the broader region.

Electricity access

With electricity access in Tanzania standing at approximately 45.8%, urban areas enjoying 71% electrification, and rural regions lagging at 23%, Schneider Electric is committed to bridging this gap. By introducing sustainable and efficient energy solutions, the company aims to enhance electricity accessibility across the country.

During a visit to the newly commissioned fabrication yard, Manish Pant, Executive Vice President for International Operations, highlighted Africa’s critical role in the global energy transition. He emphasized Schneider Electric’s commitment to providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions across the continent.

“Africa is at a turning point in the global energy transition, and Schneider Electric is dedicated to expanding access to sustainable energy. Our investment in Tanzania extends beyond technology—we are also empowering local partners by upskilling them to drive market growth and long-term impact,” Pant stated.

Josiah Habwe, General Manager for Business Projects & Services in Tanzania, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to equipping partners with the necessary skills and resources to deliver world-class energy solutions.

“This collaboration accelerates the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality, tailored innovations that support Tanzania’s infrastructure and industrial growth,” Habwe noted.

By leveraging advanced technologies and strong regional partnerships, Schneider Electric is well-positioned to address Tanzania’s energy challenges and contribute to its sustainable development.
