SKYFive Arabia, a subsidiary of SCIT Group, has announced a strategic partnership with Africa for Information Technology and Aviation (AITA) to introduce air-to-ground (A2G) in-flight connectivity (IFC) services for Egyptian airlines. This collaboration marks a significant step in improving aviation connectivity in the Middle East and Africa.

Through this agreement, AITA will integrate SKYFive’s A2G technology, which has been successfully implemented in Europe, to provide seamless, high-speed broadband for passengers and airline operations. The introduction of this technology is expected to elevate the overall flight experience and optimize operational efficiencies.

Challenges

Despite the rapid growth of the aviation industry in the region, in-flight connectivity has been limited due to technological and financial barriers. To address this, SCIT Group has committed substantial investments in developing A2G infrastructure, with Egypt as a key market. The initiative aims to modernize and expand connectivity solutions across the region, enhancing the value of equipped aircraft and aligning Egyptian airlines with top-tier global carriers that already utilize SKYFive technology via Viasat’s European Aviation Network.

The partnership also ensures that Egyptian airlines will remain connected across Europe through the SKYFive/Viasat Roaming Agreement. Talks with leading Egyptian airlines regarding service implementation are in progress, with official agreements expected soon. The first aircraft equipped with this technology is set to launch on an international route between Egypt and Saudi Arabia by the end of 2025.

Mohamed Al Haddad, CEO of AITA, emphasized the transformative impact of the collaboration, stating that the deployment of A2G technology will position Egypt as a regional leader in aviation connectivity and digital innovation. Mohamed K. AbdelRehim, CEO of SCIT Group and SKYFive Arabia, highlighted the initiative’s broader benefits, including economic growth and enhanced passenger experiences. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to driving sustainable advancements in aviation technology while expanding connectivity across key travel routes in Europe and the Middle East.
