Hong Kong-based Smart Globe Holdings has signed a logistics services agreement with COSCO Shipping Africa, cementing a strategic partnership at its developing logistics centre in Zambia. The deal marks Smart Globe’s expanded footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa’s logistics and supply chain landscape.

Under the agreement, Tera Fleet Management DMCC—an indirect non-wholly owned subsidiary of Smart Globe will begin offering warehousing, inventory control, stockpile management, and container-related operations from 1 August 2025. COSCO Shipping Africa, a unit of China’s state-owned China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, will be the primary client during the contract’s initial 12-month term. The agreement includes flexibility for early termination under specific conditions, such as change in subcontractor ownership or winding-up events.

Strategic location

Strategically located near Zambia’s border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the logistics hub is positioned as a key regional gateway, serving neighbouring markets including Zimbabwe. The centre’s infrastructure, partially completed, features warehousing, truck parking, and vehicle maintenance areas.

This development follows earlier milestones, including Smart Globe’s January 2025 land acquisition through subsidiary Tera Logistics and the signing of an MoU with COSCO Shipping Africa and Heng Qu. The new agreement is part of Smart Globe’s broader move into logistics, supported by investments in trucking operations and funding through convertible bonds and share subscriptions.

Smart Globe’s board hailed the deal as a significant step toward diversifying revenue streams and establishing a firm presence in Africa’s logistics sector. The partnership is expected to streamline cross-border goods movement, reduce transport costs, and enhance regional integration, potentially attracting further collaboration with global supply chain operators.
