Zambia and the European Union (EU) signed the investment agreement for a fifty million euro (€50 million) grant for track rehabilitation and signaling systems for Zambia Railways Limited( ZRL).

The EU grant focuses on assisting ZRL rehabilitate its critical sections of the railway infrastructure, upgrade signaling systems, and open access for private operators as well as support reforms to make the rail sector more competitive and transparent.

Signing on the ceremonial card, was the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Mr Jozef Sikela , Minister of Transport and Logistics Hon Museba Frank Tayali,MP, and Zambia Railways Limited Managing Director Eng. Cuthbert Malindi.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the President of the Republic of Zambia,Mr Hakainde Hichilema during the official opening of the EU-Zambia Lobito Corridor Business Forum at Ciela Resort in Chongwe.
