Casablanca Mohammed V handled a record 46,439 passengers in 24 hours as major airports across the country experienced sharp increases
Morocco’s airports have recorded a sharp increase in passenger traffic during the summer travel season, with several major airports reaching record or near-record daily volumes.
According to Morocco’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport recorded its busiest day during the first weekend of August, handling 46,439 passengers within 24 hours.
Other major airports also experienced significant peaks. Marrakech-Menara Airport handled more than 30,000 passengers on the same day, while Rabat-Salé Airport recorded 9,226 passengers.
Agadir-Al Massira Airport welcomed 11,973 passengers on its peak day, while Tangier-Ibn Battouta Airport handled 13,309 passengers.
The strongest increases were recorded at Dakhla and Tetouan airports, where passenger numbers on their peak days rose by 45.2% and 36.14%, respectively.
The ministry said the latest figures form part of a broader increase in air traffic across Morocco, following the country’s record of 36.3 million passengers in 2025.
“These summer peaks are part of a growth trajectory that is now structural. After crossing the record threshold of 36.3 million passengers in 2025, national air traffic continues to accelerate, confirming the growing role of airports in the Kingdom’s openness and attractiveness.
“This ability to absorb increasing volumes while maintaining operational quality is one of the major axes of the transformation undertaken as part of the ‘hashtag#Aéroports_2030’ strategy,” said a statement from the ministry.
The ministry attributed the performance to the combined efforts of organisations across Morocco’s airport network. Airports of Morocco, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII), the Royal Gendarmerie and Royal Air Maroc (RAM) are working together to manage the increased passenger volumes during the peak season.
