In an urgent announcement, Metrobus has informed its commuters that some of its routes have been cancelled, leaving many passengers seeking alternative transport at the last minute. Effective immediately, route 1, which runs from Gandhi Square to Parkhurst and back, is no longer operational, significantly disrupting daily travel for numerous individuals who rely on the service.
On May 31, Metrobus released a statement expressing its regret over the decision and the inconvenience it may cause to its loyal commuters. “Metrobus apologises for any inconvenience caused by the reduction in service. While we recognise that it would have been better to communicate earlier, this was not possible due to extensive consultations to ensure that the impact of the reduction is kept to the absolute minimum,” the statement read.
This abrupt service cut has sparked discontent among regular bus users, who rely on the system.
