Special call supports Eastern Cape’s growing reefer export industry and demonstrates port’s capacity to handle larger vessels
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has successfully berthed the 335-metre MSC MIGSAN at the Port of Port Elizabeth.
The vessel made a special call at the port last week in support of the region’s growing refrigerated export sector.
As one of the largest container vessels to call at the Port of Port Elizabeth, the successful berthing demonstrates the port’s ability to safely and efficiently accommodate increasingly larger vessels.
TNPA said the achievement highlighted the dedication of its marine services teams, as well as the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in facilitating the vessel’s arrival.
The successful call also reinforces the role of the Port of Port Elizabeth in supporting regional exporters and connecting Eastern Cape cargo with international markets.
For the region’s reefer export industry, efficient port operations are particularly important in ensuring time-sensitive cargo can move reliably through the supply chain and reach global markets.
