South Africa’s Deputy Transport Minister delivered keynote at NYDA Automotive Expo in East London, spotlighting skills development, employment and emerging opportunities in the sector
Deputy Minister of Transport Mkhuleko Hlengwa has called attention to the opportunities available to young people across South Africa’s automotive value chain, delivering a keynote address at the NYDA Automotive Expo at the East London Industrial Development Zone.
The expo brings together young people, automotive industry stakeholders, government representatives and training institutions to showcase opportunities within the sector.
The event is designed to give young people greater insight into employment prospects, skills development, innovation and emerging opportunities across the automotive value chain.
For an industry closely linked to manufacturing, freight, logistics and supply chains, developing skills and creating pathways into the automotive sector is increasingly important as the industry evolves.
Hlengwa was joined at the event by Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Princess Faku and NYDA Executive Deputy Chairperson Bonga Makhanya.
The East London Industrial Development Zone is a key automotive manufacturing location in the Eastern Cape, making it a significant setting for discussions around skills development and opportunities within the broader automotive ecosystem.
