New feeder service links Afungi with Nacala and Maputo, creating a dedicated route for equipment and materials needed for northern Mozambique’s growing energy activity
MSC has introduced a new maritime shuttle connecting Afungi in northern Mozambique with the ports of Nacala and Maputo, creating a dedicated coastal link for cargo supporting the region’s growing LNG activity.
The Afungi Shuttle is designed to facilitate the movement of construction materials, machinery, industrial equipment, spare parts and other cargo required for development around the Afungi LNG project.
The service comes as economic activity in northern Mozambique creates growing logistics requirements for moving project-related cargo into the region.
Under the new service, MSC will operate dedicated feeder rotations between Nacala and Afungi and between Maputo and Afungi. The coastal connections will link Afungi with MSC’s wider network, giving cargo moving to the site access to trade routes serving Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Southern Africa.
For customers, the service is intended to simplify the movement of cargo to Afungi by incorporating the coastal feeder leg into the MSC booking process.
